With MedIDCard, it’s all about putting the power of your health
in your hands to gain control over your valuable health information.
1. What is MedIDCard?
MedIDCard is a retractable USB card preloaded with MedIDWare, a comprehensive personal health record program that allows you to manage and store your personal and medical data in one easy place that can go anywhere. With MedIDWare you can record all of your health information including conditions, x-rays, immunizations, advance directives, prescription drugs, and more. MedIDCard, allows you to carry your medical information with you wherever you go, so you can have your health history available for doctor visits or emergencies.
2. What is a Personal Health Record (PHR)?
A PHR is a tool that you can use to collect, track and share past and current information about your health or the health of someone in your care. Sometimes this information can save money and the inconvenience of repeating routine medical tests. Even when routine procedures do need to be repeated, your PHR can give medical care providers more insight into your personal health story. The typical PHR consolidates information from many sources into one complete and accurate summary of the health and medical history of an individual. The MedIDWare PHR can be viewed, edited, printed or emailed. The data as well as the portable MedIDWare program may be viewed and edited from any USB port on the computer that the MedIDCard is inserted into. MedIDCard is compatible with Windows and Mac Operating Systems.
3. How do I obtain my medical records from my doctor?
Just ask your healthcare provider for a copy. It’s OK to ask for your medical records thanks to two major events:
A. Increasing use of the internet by patients for health-related research, answers to questions, online support groups, and blogs for any medical topic you may wish to chat about, leading to patients who are smarter and better informed about their treatment options.
B. HIPAA – the 1996 Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which formalized the process for obtaining copies of your medical records. HIPAA, the same act that regulates how your health information is handled to protect your privacy, also gives you the right to see and obtain a copy of your records. By simply completing an authorization form, you are entitled to receive a copy of your medical record from any provider you see. What this means for you, as you think about creating your own Personal Health Record (PHR), is that it’s now much easier for you to ask for your records. No doctor is surprised any more when a patient asks for copies of test results or a written consultation. It’s your right, so what are you waiting for? Start building your PHR at your next visit. You’ll be surprised how easy it is!
4. Why do I need MedIDCard if my doctor and other provider keep my health records?
To maximize greater control, access and portability. The information your doctor stores within their office may not be immediately available to you, especially in an emergency. And even more challenging, your health information will likely be scattered among several healthcare providers, which can make it impossible to keep track of or communicate your health status. MedIDCard lets you maintain the health records for you. With MedIDCard, you can bring your health information with you wherever you go. Ultimately, this means you will have greater control over your health with MedIDCard.
5. How does MedIDWare work?
MedIDWare is a software solution that is preloaded onto each MedIDCard. The program is self contained which means the program completely resides on the MedIDCard. No download is required and facilitates the most portable personal health record system available in the market today. The Program is Windows or Mac compatible. To get started in creating a health record, simply enter as much information as you have available in each health section tab area. You can also add official test results, documents or x-rays by importing electronic files from a DVD or CD file or scanning each one and attaching them to them into the MedIDWare program. At anytime during this process, you can select certain health information to either print or export to your MedIDCard for sharing with your doctor or emergency personnel in the event of an emergency.
6. What types of medical records are important to store in MedIDCard?

If that is the case we strongly encourage you to indicate only the last four numbers of your SS# so your insurance carrier can identify you, but you should not under any circumstances divulge your full SS#. The final decision to do so is your responsibility. MedID Technologies, Inc. cannot be held responsible if you chose to divulge your SS# in your records and it is compromised.
